WELCOME TO THE SUMTER OPERA HOUSE

INTIMATE. ICONIC. INSPIRING.

For 130 years, the Sumter Opera House has been a beacon of culture, hosting unforgettable live performances and serving as a hub for civic life. Today, this iconic venue—home to City Hall, City Council chambers, and a 550-seat theatre—stands at the crossroads of history and transformation. We honored our legacy with a Grand Closing Bash on June 13, a jubilant farewell before a massive renovation and historic revitalization begins. This renovation marks a new chapter in our story—a chapter where old memories meet new, and the arts continue to spark community vibrancy, quality of life, education, and economic growth. Although our Main Stage is now dark, we will continue our Acoustic Café series in the City Centre and our Matinee Series will be held in local schools. We're excited for this new journey and look forward to sharing the progress with you!
