In addition to our regular Opera House Event Season, we are extremely pleased to offer a series of Special Events ranging from music and movies to special rentals, performances, and outside events throughout downtown and the city. Please note that the events listed on this page are not eligible for the Membership discounts and may be in conjunction with other events in Historic Downtown Sumter.
Homegrown People's Choice

Once again, your favorite local musicians will take the stage in a benefit concert for The Sounds of Grace. This spring concert has been titled People's Choice Homegrown. You don’t want to miss the chance of seeing which songs have been requested and just how they will put their spin on things.
Pre-Event tickets will go fast, so be sure to grab them soon. Thank you for your continued support of Homegrown and The Sounds of Grace.
Iris Festival Pageant

The 25th Annual Iris Festival Pageant will be held on May 4 at the famous Sumter Opera House for ages birth to 19 years old. Eight Iris Queens , two Overall Iris Queens and Miss Swan lake will ride on the Iris Festival Parade float and be introduced at the Iris Festival during Memorial Day Weekend. Two Overall Queens will receive $100 cash , a beautiful crown, rhinestone scepter, embroidered sash, trophy and a gift. All contestants will receive a participation gift and numerous additional awards are given in all age groups.
The pageant begins at 10:30 AM with our 0-6 age group. The 7-19 age group will begin at 12:00 noon. Deadline to enter is April 22nd. Applications are on line at www.irisfestival.org at Festival .
